8 Ways To Exercise Without Even Knowing It

Wouldn’t it be nice to exercise with out knowing it? If you are like me, then you probably think exercising is pretty boring. Sometimes its hard to get motivated for that reason alone. As a busy mom myself I know that getting a workout into my daily routine can be another challenge. Trying to exercise with screaming kids climbing all over you is no easy task.

If the same old boring work outs are not motivating you than you may want to trick yourself into exercising. I’m talking about getting a good work out and not even realizing it! Some of these ideas are fun and some are just things that need to get done anyway. Its all about multitasking and doing all of the things that are important to you, including exercise.

1. Walk, alot!

Walking is a great way to exercise and tone your legs. Doing a lot of walking is the best way to exercise. Go somewhere fun that requires a lot of walking. I suggest theme parks, the zoo, or the mall. If you have young kids and are pushing a stroller, even better! You will not realize how much of a work out you are actually getting until the next day when your legs are sore. The best part is that you were doing something fun with your kids!

2. Deep Clean

You have probably already realized that cleaning can be a lot of work. Especially if you have kids that destroy your house in no time. Sometimes I feel like all I do is clean all day. Deep cleaning your house is how you really break a sweat. I like to pick one day a week where I go nuts cleaning. Clean the things that you don’t usually clean, but could probably use a cleaning anyway. Baseboards, under the couch and in between cushions, behind the refrigerator, or the grout stains on your tiles. You get the point!

3. Gardening

Gardening can be a serious work out, but also kind of fun. I find gardening to be a great stress relief. Pulling weeds, pruning shrubs, raking leaves, and sweeping dirt are all great ways to get a workout when gardening. I know from experience that pulling weeds or planting flowers are a great work out for your butt and thighs. The nice thing about this work out is that you will have a beautiful garden as a result.

4. Swim

If you have kids, than they probably love swimming. Take them to the pool and play with them. Have races from one side of the pool to the other or play Marko Polo. You want to play any game that is going to get you moving. You and your kids will have a blast and you won’t even know you are exercising.

5. Play a sport

Sports can be a great work out, but also a lot of fun! Find a fun sport to play with friends or with your kids and husband. The best sports to play to get a good workout are soccer, tennis, basketball or volleyball. All of these games you can play in the park or in your own backyard. You will have fun and break a sweat.

6. Hike

If you are a nature lover like me then you will probably enjoy going on a hike. Hiking can be a peaceful and great way to work out. Being out in nature and taking in the fresh air is a wonderful experience. Because hiking usually requires you to walk up hill it is a great way to burn calories and tone.

7. Take a dance class

Dancing is a good way to exercise, but also a lot of fun. Take a dance class with girl friends or a salsa class with your husband. You will be learning something new and exercising at the same time.

8. ride a bike

Go on a bike ride with friends or family. Riding bikes can be a great work out and pretty relaxing. Find a nice bike trail by the beach or at the park and you won’t even realize that you are exercising. Riding your bike around the neighborhood with your kids can be a lot of fun for you and the kids.

Get Moving!

Hopefully some of these suggestions will inspire you to get moving. Try doing at least 2 to 3 of these a week and you will start to feel so much better. Who wants to do the same boring exercises anyway! The best way to work out is to not even know you are working out.
